Local Needs: Burbank police issued a warning after a man tried to pick up three girls (ages 10-11) in his truck as they walked home on Wednesday afternoon. The girls ran from him and flagged a police officer. The police have not yet located the man.

Thank God for his protection of these girls through his provision of a police officer at the right place at the right time; ask for God’s continued protection upon them.
Pray for conviction in the man’s life.
Pray for protection of all Burbank’s children from people who would want to cause harm.

Entertainment Industry: Two stalkers who have each threatened Halle Berry in separate incidents are on the loose (one released from prison and the other escaped from prison and the other escaped from a mental hospital). She is afraid for her and her daughter Nahla's safety. Her desire is to move to France, but she is having legal difficulties making that a possibility because of custody rights on the part of Nahla's father.

Pray for supernatural protection upon Halle and Nahla that not only keeps them from the potential danger of these two men but also helps lead them into relationship withHim.
Pray that God provide wisdom and clarity in the best way to handle this situation.
Pray for conviction on part of the two stalkers, that they may be free from any bondage that keeps within them any desire for the harm of others.

The Pacific: This area contains 25,000 islands and is larger than Africa, Asia, and Europe combined. It includes Australia, New Zealand, Paupa New Guinea, and 26 smaller territories. When missionaries came to the Pacific in the late 1800s, almost the entire area converted to Christianity. In recent decades, there has been a great decline in the church’s vibrancy and influence in culture. A split between the people of Fiji and other political upheavals are causing great tension in the area. The younger generation in general feels betrayed by their descendants whose decisions have left little opportunity for employment and education. Results of this include emigration, lack of personal identity, and organized crime.

Pray for a work of the Holy Spirit to renew what He began in this area a century ago.
Pray for a pure and committed church that once again has influence in all aspects of the nation through their prayers, their love, and their boldness to stand for what is right.
Pray for reconciliation within the people of Fiji they have split from one another as well as peace throughout the Pacific in the midst of many international struggles.
Pray for a restoration of justice in the nation, so that decisions are made for the best of each other—especially the younger generation—and not for selfish gain.
Pray for healing in the lives of the young who have felt exploited and the provision of opportunity for them to begin living lives that reach the potential God created in them.

Encounter Prayer February 3

Local Needs: A 10-year old boy was arrested Sunday in Burbank for pointing a gun at a 67-year old woman. Though the gun was found to be a toy, the woman thought it was real and called the police. It is believed that he chose this woman’s house because her grandson beat up a friend of his at school.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in the boy’s life, ministeringto him in every hurt and darkness that led to his behavior last weekend.
Pray for healing in the life of the woman who was threatened.
Pray for a spirit of peace in the boy’s school and among all Burbank’s young people.

Entertainment Industry: Well-known actor Liam Neeson was raised in a Christian

family and has been involved in the church most of his life. In the last year, however, he told in an interview that while filming in Istanbul and Turkey, he was moved by a Muslim call to prayer and has been considering conversion to Islam.

Pray for God to reveal the truth of Himself to Neeson in such a way that a vibrant relationship with Jesus will be the result.
Pray for Neeson in his responsibilities as a single parent following the death of his wife Natasha Richardson in 2009.

Europe: Following centuries of warfare and political upheaval, the continent

has been enjoying a time of relative stability for the last twenty years. Many tensions in Eastern Europe are still alive, though, and have potential for future instability. Sociological trends of secularism have harmed the church in many nations with strong Christian histories, and freedom of religion is being threatened. The Church is growing in Europe, however, because of the many Christian immigrants settling in Europe. The church has seemed to have lost its voice in the culture, and nearly 250 people groups have not heard the message of the Gospel.

Thank God for the growing peace and stability in Europe; pray for continued growth in this area and for healing among the tensions in Eastern Europe.
Pray for a re-awakening of the church in Europe, bringing about transformation of lives, of the church, and of the whole continent through relationship with Jesus and the filling of the Holy Spirit.
Pray for political leaders and governmental systems to be built upon justice and mercy, allowing freedom of religion to be unhindered and for all necessary freedoms to be upheld.
Pray for the youth of Europe, since most of the people under 25 have not been exposed to the church as those who are older have.
Pray for the good news of God’s love and salvation to be spread to those 250 people groups across Europe who have not yet heard.

Local Needs: Kinde Durkee was arrested in September for allegedly embezzling over a half million dollars from the campaign account of Assemblyman Jose Solorio. The trial was to begin Thursday but has been delayed until Feb 28.

Pray for God to expose truth before the next court date.
Pray for Kinde Durkee to experience freedom to repent and accept all repercussions if she is guilty or the peace of God to reign in her with understanding that God will bring justice in his time if she is innocent.
Pray for Assemblyman Solorio to be willing to forgive where necessary and to continue in his governmental responsibility under the leading of the Lord.

Entertainment Industry: Lindsay Lohan was sued this week for a hit-and-run that allegedly happened 17 months ago.

Pray for Lindsay to experience the love and forgiveness of the Lord, to receive freedom from the Holy Spirit that enables her to make positive decisions in life, and for positive relationships in her life that will encourage her in a lifestyle of loving God.
Pray for the woman who has filed this lawsuit, that God’s will be accomplished in the case, that truth and justice reign.
Pray for all involved in overseeing the case to have discernment to make the best decisions possible.

Asia: Asia has the fasting growing rate of conversion to Christianity in the world, yet it consists of 81% of the world’s non-Christians. Muslim extremism and dictatorial governments prevent the spreading of the Gospel in some areas and promote the persecution of Christians.

Pray for God to continue the great work He has begun in Asia, so that the whole continent is exposed to the Gospel message and has an opportunity to know Him.
Pray for the people who are persecuted for their faith to be encouraged and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, enable to continue in the life God has called them to.
Pray for God to reveal Himself to the people involved with Muslim terrorist organizations, bringing salvation to the people and a disbanding of the groups.
Pray for protection and healing in Israel, praying for the nation to come to know their Messiah, rediscovering the depths of their identity as God’s chosen people.
Pray for Asia’s political leaders to surrender their lives and their plans to the Lord bringing about leaders of integrity and wisdom who lead in a manner that flows out of relationship with God.
Pray for hope and justice to be restored to all caught in human trafficking, much of which is initiated in Asia, pleading for the termination of this evil institution.

Local Needs: Between Wednesday and Thursday, police found severed body parts of a man in the Hollywood Hills. The investigation has not yet yielded significant information.

Pray for the investigators of this matter to come to full understanding of what happened, exposing the guilty party.
Pray for peace and healing to the family and friends of the victim, as well as to any others who may have reason to believe that the unidentified victim could be a loved one.

Entertainment Industry: Former “Survivor” star Ethan Zohn has had a relapse of Hodgkins’ Lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy with

positive results.

Pray for Ethan as he continues chemo, that the cancer will be completely removed and that God will grant him strength and a revelation of Himself during the healing process.
Pray for his girlfriend Jenna Morasca and all other significant people in his life to be a support to him and to experience the comfort and peace of the Holy Spirit in their own lives.

The Americas: In praying for these 53 nations, we will focus upon some of the region’s most widespread problems.

Pray for governmental leaders in the Central American nations where cocaine is produced to become able to regulate production and the trafficking that begins in these nations and causes so much destruction in all of the Americas.
The Caribbean has the highest murder rate of any region in the world; pray for God to reign there, imparting a spirit of peace, forgiveness, and selflessness.
Pray for a revolution of economic practices in the Americas that will be rooted in integrity, transforming the region’s economy to stability.
Pray for God to break through past the rampant secularism (resistance against the idea that there is only one way to truth and personal accountability to that truth) that is growing in the Americas, not allowing it to silence the witness of His people but rather letting the message of the Gospel be heard and welcomed.
Pray for the church in the Americas, as 77% of claim Christianity, yet a nominal faith is increasingly common. Ask God to awaken all those who have been exposed to the Gospel message but are not living in its power.
Pray for the indigenous people of the Americas who have been marginalized throughout much of the region’s history and are often unreached with the Gospel, asking God to bring salvation, justice, and hope to these people as well as reconciliation and peace with other Americans.

Local Needs: 76 year old Arthur Apelson was injured on Tuesday as his motorcycle collided with a car in Burbank; he suffered a fractured femur and severed thumb. It was determined to be the fault of neither party.

Pray for Apelson’s recovery, asking God to reveal himself to through complete healing (physical, spiritual, and emotional).
Pray for the driver of the other vehicle to also experience healing and peace from the Lord following this traumatic event.

Entertainment Industry: Heather Locklear was hospitalized earlier this week and is now in stable condition; the condition was not released publically but it is believed to be a mix of prescription medication and alcohol that caused the episode.

Pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual healing in Heather Locklear’s life.
Pray for family and friends who will support her during any further recovery that follows her hospitalization.
Pray for God to meet her in the midst of her troubles, showing His love and power, helping her trust in Him as her savior and healer and in His ability to transcend all she is dealing with.

Africa: As we pray for this continent consisting of 57 nations, we will focus upon its long history of religious bondage, government corruption, disease, and economic woes.

Pray for a pure Church in Africa; while it is growing rapidly throughout the continent, syncretism (the mixing of faiths) is very common, so we must pray that the Christians of Africa come to have a solid relationship with the Lord, worshipping Him alone.
Extreme poverty has resulted from years of warfare and corruption; pray for God’s provision of resources to allow all people the opportunity to live free of poverty.
Pray against government corruption in Africa, as nearly $150 billion dollars per year are gained and used for means that do not help the many problems that need to be addressed; ask God to bring leaders who will justly use everything available in the nation to best benefit the people.
Malaria, AIDS, TB, and other diseases have caused great devastation throughout Africa; pray for God’s intervention to bring healing and prevention (including provision of clean water, as the lack causes the spread of much disease).

Local Needs: There were two fires in Burbank on Saturday morning (one car fire, one at an auto repair shop). There were no injuries but much damage was done to the building of the auto shop and the material inside). An investigation is taking place due to suspicions that these fires may be related to a Los Angeles arson ring.

Pray for peace for all who have experienced loss as a result of these fires.
Pray for everyone involved with the investigation, so that the truth of the fires’ causes will be exposed and appropriately responded to.

Entertainment Industry: Actor/comedian Russell Brand filed for divorce from singer Katy Perry last week.

Pray for God to reveal Himself to both Brand and Perry in this difficult time in their lives.
Pray for a spirit of reconciliation and restoration in their lives, bringing hope and peace.

World: We will begin this year praying broadly for the entire world. We praise God for the spread of the Gospel message throughout every continent and praying for a few global trends.

Praise God for the evangelical movement of the past 50 years, which has been the fastest growing and most global religious movement of the time.
Pray for continued growth in this movement, so that many in “every tongue, tribe, and nation” will hear and respond to the Gospel in 2012.
Pray for God’s people throughout the world to continually listen and respond to his voice, living in holiness and unity with other believers regardless of situation, providing a witness that will change the world.
Pray for God’s intervention in areas of terrorism that threaten the world, halting the various extremist groups and bringing salvation to members of these groups as well as to those who have experienced great suffering and loss at the hands of such groups.
Pray for the 30 million people living in slavery due to human trafficking, asking God for their freedom, justice, and healing.
Pray for medical advances in the areas of cancer, HIV/AIDS, and research for other diseases that are consistently taking many lives throughout the world, asking for intervention to stop the spread of such diseases.
Pray for provision of clean water, natural resources, and other needs being depleted through pollution-related environmental changes throughout the world.

Local Needs: 49 year old Glendale resident Gregory Bentley was arrested last weekend after threatening to kill people in his neighborhood while carrying a loaded gun. No injuries reported, and it is believed that his actions were related to his drunken state.

Pray for God’s protection upon this neighborhood, preventing future threat and providing healing from the fear and trauma that occurred as a result of this event.
Pray for Bentley and his family to experience the Lord’s grace, conviction, and healing in their lives so that peace and love reign in them and their neighborhood.

Entertainment Industry: Giuliana Rancic, co-host of E! Entertainment News returned to work this week following a double mastectomy last month.

Pray for Giuliana’s continued recovery and complete healing.
Pray that Giuliana and her husband Bill experience the Lord during this challenging time in their lives.

Zimbabwe: African nation of about 12.6 million people, Zimbabwe is a nation of extreme poverty, with an unemployment rate of over 90%. Education and health care have been paralyzed. State-endorsed violence and murder are normal against people who are working to improve conditions. Due to these ills as well as one of the world’s highest rates of AIDS, Zimbabwe’s life expectancy rate has dropped from age 60 to 40.

Pray for God to remove leaders who are willing to allow the nation’s dark state to continue for their self-gain, bringing into power leaders who will put the needs of the people first and who will lead with attitudes of humility and service.
Pray for the growing Church of Zimbabwe to be a prophetic voice to the government and for continued and complete spiritual renewal in the nation.
Pray for effective intervention related to the AIDS epidemic, asking God for healing and prevention.

Local Needs: We will be praying this week for Burbank’s churches.

Pray that each Burbank congregation will grow in their intimacy with the Lord this Christmas season.
Pray for Holy Spirit empowering upon each church family to fulfill their God-ordained purposes in 2012, joining in God’s work to reach the city of Burbank.
Pray for a growth of unity among the congregations that surpasses denominational and doctrinal differences.

Entertainment Industry: Former American Idol contender Adam Lambert was arrested along with his boyfriend Sauli Koskinen for their involvement in a bar fight in Finland.

Pray for God to use the embarrassment and other consequences of this situation to reveal Himself, His love, and his power to Adam and Sauli.
Pray for people to come along side these two men who can help them recognize their deepest need in life and to submit every aspect of their lifestyles to the Lord.

Vietnam: One of only a few nations remaining Communist, Vietnam has a population of about 89 million, has endured decades of warfare and economic crisis. Though persecutions and restrictions are extreme, the Christian Church is growing in number. Centuries of ancestor worship have a great impact on the nation’s current spiritual state. Addiction, HIV/AIDS, prostitution, and the exploitation of children are grave problems that continue to worsen in Vietnam.

Pray for an end to the oppressive Communist system, asking the Lord to break through past its power, bringing into authority leaders who will be godly and seek justice and peace for Vietnam.
Pray for those in Vietnam who live for Jesus, asking God to comfort and empower them, allowing their voices to be heard in the nation for the sake of the Gospel as well as for their own protection and healing.
Pray for the curse related to the deep-rooted bondage from ancestor worship to be broken, allowing worship of the true Triune God to break forth in this nation in a way never before imagined.
Pray for God’s healing in the nation from all the societal ills that plague it, bringing deliverance from addiction, prostitution, and other bondages as well as healing and prevention of HIV/AIDS and other disease and protection and justice for the nation’s children and youth.

Local Needs: Burbank Temporary Aid Service needs prayer in its time of transition following the death of its leader Dan Linegar, whose family we prayed for 2 weeks ago.

Pray for new, solid leadership who will be driven by great compassion for needy people in our community.
Pray for all staff and volunteers of BTAC to be able to make the adjustments needed to continue doing all that needs to be done to serve the people that BTAC was founded for.

Entertainment Industry: Britney Spears announced her engagement to her former agent Jason Trawick this week.

Pray for God to reveal himself to the couple, drawing them to Himself, and to bless their relationship.
Pray for a movement of the Holy Spirit in their lives during their engagement, cleansing them of all past, preparing them for their marriage.
Pray for God’s protection upon their relationship, so that it may be all to them all God created and desires marriage to be.

Vanuatu: This small island nation in the South Pacific has a population of 245,000. Their economy is dependent upon agriculture and tourism, both of which are threatened by weather and climate changes. 95% of the nation claims Christianity and thousands have rededicated their lives to Christ through the recent work of a mission organization.

Pray for the leaders of Vanuatu to work for the country firmly according to the nation’s motto: “In God We Stand.”
Pray for Bible colleges and training centers for the nation’s spiritual leaders who are many in number but often lacking in instruction.
Pray for growth and stability of the nation’s economy, that new avenues may come into existence beyond the agriculture and tourism that have been inconsistent.

Local Need: San Fernando City Hall dealing with two sex scandals. The mayor announced that he has been having an affair with a councilwoman, and the police chief was accused of firing and threatening the life of a 19 year old cadet in fear that she would publicize their relationship.

Pray for full repentance and healing for Mayor Mario Hernandez following his admission of wrongdoing and that Councilwoman Maribel de la Torre will also come to repentance.
Pray for all the necessary truth to be revealed in the situation involving Police Chief Marco Anthony Rueles and the teenage cadet Maria Barajas, asking God to bring to truth, justice and the revelation of Himself out of this mess.

Entertainment Industry: Howard Stern was best known for his radio show that ran from 1986 to 2005.He was raised in a Jewish background; in his college years he began practicing Transcendental Meditation which he has continued throughout his life. He has 3 children from his first wife and has now been married to model Beth Ostrosky for 3 years.

Pray for Jesus to reveal Himself in Stern’s life as the Messiah his parents hoped for and for the Holy Spirit’s power to deliver him from all the effects of counterfeit spirituality.
Pray for Stern’s family to also come to the Lord and to live the abundant lives God has for each of his children, for his wife and his ex-wife.

United Kingdom: A nation of 62 million, UK’s rich Christian heritage has been replaced by much nominal Christian expression today. There is a continually growing rate of non-religious people who once identified themselves as Christian (currently 35% of the population with 70% still professing Christ).The Church is growing in numbers and in power among ethnic minorities, while that country’s native people are in large drifting away. Some often refers to the UK as “Broken Britain” because of its moral and political decline.

Pray for a spiritual awakening in the UK, that God will be glorified in the nation and the people will move past their brokenness into healing and hope.
Pray for continued growth of the Church among immigrants, and that God will increase their favor and influence among the rest of the nation.
Pray for the UK’s challenge related to immigration as there are over 600,000 illegal immigrants in the UK.

Local Need: Dan Linegar, who led the Burbank Temporary Aid Center died on Sunday.

Pray for family and friends as they mourn their loss, asking God to bring hope and healing in their lives.
Pray for God to call other people to carry out Linegar’s legacy, continuing the positive impact on our city of meeting the needs of the poor.

Nick Nolte: Nolte has been a prominent actor for 3 decades. He has been married and divorced 3 times, has had many other unstable relationships, and has 2 children. He has struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for much of his life, though he has not had any known problems with it for the last 9 years.

Pray for Nolte to experience the Lord in a powerful way, so that he may begin to have freedom to live the abundant life available in Jesus.
Pray for godly people to come alongside Nolte, helping him begin to live in hope.
Pray for healing from all root emotional issues that are involved with his addiction.

Uganda: An African nation of 33.8 million people, Uganda has been considered a Christian nation since 1986 with much growth of evangelical churches and a charismatic renewal within the Catholic Church. The extreme hostility with other nations as well as internal violence has dramatically decreased as has the HIV/AIDS rate that were once among the world’s worst.

Thank God for the transformation he has done in this nation, and pray for much more renewal to occur through more people coming to the Lord, greater peace within the nation, and complete end to the HIV/AIDS.
Pray for the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) which is an occult-powered terrorist group that was responsible for much of the nation’s corrupt state before 1985. Though their authority has diminished greatly, they still are a threat to the nation’s health and stability.
Pray for the salvation of LRA members and for a disbanding of the organization. Though there has been wonderful growth in the Church, Uganda’s Christian community is divided and often includes the mixing of other belief systems with biblical Christianity; pray for purity in the Church to live in vibrant relationship with the Lord and have a great impact on their nation and other nations of the world.
Pray for the training of spiritual leaders in Uganda, as solid discipleship is needed.

Local Needs: Burbank Unified teachers continue to deal with the pressures of budget constraints especially related to large numbers of students in classes and furloughs. An agreement was reached this week between the teacher’s union and the school district in attempt to help in these areas.

Pray for peace and reconciliation between the teachers, school district, and all others involved in the education of our young people, so that the best of the children and youth is their priority.
Pray for necessary funding to ensure all aspects of quality education for our children.

Entertainment Industry: Documentary film maker Jehane Noujaim was arrested this week in her attempts to interview protesters in Egypt and film aspects of the upheaval.

Pray for Nojuaim to experience peace and a revelation of God’s presence with her during this trying time.
Pray for Egyptian officials involved in her arrest, asking God to lead them to conviction toward justice for Noujaim and all others involved in the protests.

Togo: This African nation has a population of 6,800,000. The Evangelical/Pentecostal population has grown from 2.7% to 10.7% in the last 10 years. The country is plagued by extreme political corruption; after the death of a president in 2005, his son was illegally appointed to office by the army; he was re-elected last year; the election results are believed to have been rigged. 45% of the nation professes Christianity, 35% of practices indigenous religions, and 20% is Muslim.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue the work he has begun, further increasing the growth of his church in Togo, granting them influence and authority in their country.
Pray for President Faure Gnassingbé to experience the Lord in a powerful way that brings him conviction of how to lead the nation in justice and godliness.

Pray for the police as they continue to investigate, so that all victims may receive justice and restoration of all that has been stolen.
Pray for God to meet with the Ghookasians during their imprisonment and trial, bringing them into conviction, repentance, and salvation.

Entertainment Industry: Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher announced their divorce this week.

Pray for God to reveal himself to Demi and Ashton during this time, showing them the power of his forgiveness, that they may receive forgiveness and come to forgive each other, receiving all the healing they need.

Tanzania: This African nation has about 45 million people; it is a peaceful nation with religious freedom; 54% is Christian and 31% is Muslim. It provides shelter for over a million refugees from the troubled neighboring countries. There is much growth with church planting and evangelism; there is a growing rate of Muslims converting to Christianity, but there is also a growing rate of moderate Muslims becoming radical and dangerous to the nation. Occultism, poverty, and HIV/AIDS.

Pray for God to continue the work he is doing in Tanzania, bringing many more people to himself (and specifically within the Muslim population).
Pray for deeper discipleship opportunities for the Christians of Tanzania, as follow-up after conversion is often neglected.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to move in lives in such a way that the plagues of occult worship, poverty, and HIV/AIDS are stopped.

Local Need: Diosela Gonzales Morales is a 68-year-old woman with sever dementia reported to be missing on Thursday, last seen with family in Glendale.

Pray for God's protection for Diosela, helping her to be found quickly and to receive all the help that she needs.
Pray for her family to receive comfort and peace during this very difficult time, and that God will reveal himself to each member of this family.

Entertainment Industry: A Hollywood Prayer Network member (Seth) is planting a church to reach specifically people who are involved in adult entertainment.

Pray for Seth to clearly discern and follow God's direction in every step he takes in starting this ministry.
Pray for an outpouring of God's love, mercy, and holiness to be recognized through this ministry, so that many will be free from the bondage related to the porn industry and begin to live the abundant life they were created to live.

Switzerland: With a population of about 7,600,000 Switzerland is a nation with a strong Christian heritage; it is also known for being a country of peace and neutrality during times of conflict. In recent decades however, this has turned to more of a political apathy which has been followed by a spiritual decline. Switzerland is a very wealthy nation that has become simultaneously materialistic and nominal in their faith. It is has a high rate of elderly people and a very low birth rate but a high immigration rate (many of whom are Muslim).

Pray for a re-awakening of the nation of Switzerland to once again experience the love and power of God, so that many people will once again live for Him, having a great influence on the entire nation.
Pray for ministry to be offered to the immigrants of Switzerland who seem to be the nation's future, asking God to call and equip spiritual and societal leaders who will join in God's plans for this aging nation as it goes through radical changes.

Entertainment Industry: Country singer Keith Urban (Nicole Kidman’s husband) is having throat surgery to remove a polyp; it is a minor surgery but could have major effects on his singing career.

Pray for God to reveal himself and his will to Keith Urban and his family during this time of uncertainty, so that through it they may come to know God’s love and faithfulness.
Pray for a successful surgery and quick return to health for Keith.

Somalia: This African nation of about 9 million people is 99.67% Muslim. The country was at war against Ethiopia from the 1960s-1990s. Much civil war has also plagued the nation; it has also become destitute as a result of all the money spent on warfare. Murder is commonagainst Somoli Christians, especially against those who have converted from Islam.

Pray for peace in this nation, that hostility will be replaced with love and unity as God reveals himself to Somalia.
Pray for hearts to be softened, so that the Gospel may be preached and received in Somalia without the fear of violence.
Pray for God’s protection upon the Christians of Somalia, allowing them to worship God freely and to have a strong positive influence on their country.

There is much political upheaval including a civil war about 10 years ago that killed and displaced many and also caused great harm to the economy. 96% of the nation professes Christianity, though many are nominal in their faith and being influenced by the increasing spread of "Christian cults" and Islam.

Pray for a spirit of peace and reconciliation in the Solomon Islands, putting an end to the constant strife within the nation and bringing unity to the Church.
Pray for an awakening in the Church of the Solomon Islands, so that the nation will have a true experience of relationship with God that will transform not only their lives but the entire nation.

Local Needs: Amy Albano, Burbank's new City Attorney, was sworn in and began her job on Tuesday, following Dennis Barlow who retired after 14 years.

Pray for Ms. Albano to have a good transition into her new position, to be able to well accomplish the position she has been appointed to.
Pray for Ms. Albano's involvement with the police department as her job will include contribution to the ongoing work related to the suspicions of corruption against it, that God will use her in exposing truth and bringing justice.

Entertainment Industry: 19-year old actress Selena Gomez had a restraining order placed on 46-year old stalker Thomas Brodnicki who admitted plans to kill her because of "conversations he had with God."

Thank God for his protection upon Selena, providing for her needs in this very frightening time.
Pray that she will have clear understanding of God's love for her through this experience.

Russia: The world's largest country at over 140 million people, Russia is a nation that has been under autocratic or tyrannical leadership almost constantly since the 8th Century. The nation is currently free in name but still very limited in freedoms of speech, religion, and press. This continues to allow great corruption in the government and oppression of the people. The Russian Orthodox Church has much political influence which includes much restriction upon the practice of all minority religions.

Pray for a great movement of the Holy Spirit throughout Russia to bring spiritual freedom to individuals as well as political freedom to the nation.
Pray for an awakening in the Orthodox Church, so that its attention may be on the person of Jesus and on his priorities--the right treatment of people--and off of their unbalanced tradition and political authority.
Pray for church leaders in Russia to have new influence, leading to more effective evangelism and discipleship in the country.
Pray for the nearly 13 million unreached people of Russia who need to hear and respond to the Gospel, that their hearts will be prepared by the Spirit and workers sent to them.

Local Needs: The Burbank Police Department is under great stress both in finances and not enough people on force to meet the current demands. Facing discrimination lawsuits, an increase in 911 calls, a decrease in labor, and repairs to the local jail all are creating a heavy burden on the department.

Pray for God's work in the police department to remove anybody involved with discrimination and other corruption, replacing them with people of integrity who are determined to have the protection of the city as their priority.
Pray for God to bless the police department with wisdom related to handling their finances and to provide wherever they truly are in need.

Entertainment Industry: Donnie & Marie Osmond have had long careers in music and acting, both individually and as a brother/sister team since childhood. They are both active in the Mormon religion as are their families. Donny has 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Marie has been married 3 times and has 8 children (5 adopted); her daughter Jessica is a lesbian, and her son Michael committed suicide last year.

Pray for God to reveal Himself to the Osmonds in such a way that they understand the deception in their religious practice and come to deep intimacy in relationship with God through Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to be their comforter, healing their family in all the pain they have been experiencing, especially as related to the loss of Marie's son.

Qatar: This African nation of about 1,500,000 people is a strict Muslim republic that has heavy restrictions on the Christian church and strictly forbids any evangelistic efforts towards Muslims. 88% of the nation is Muslim; 5% is Christian.

Pray for God to break through past the lack of freedom in the nation to make Himself known to the many Muslims of Qatar, making a way for the Gospel to be spread.
Pray for God's protection upon the Christians and other non-Muslim minority groups of Qatar who are in constant struggle with the lack of liberty offered them.

Local Needs: A fire yesterday in an apartment complex at 3800 W Chandler Blvd (about a quarter mile from the Banshee) caused one unit to be destroyed, and the other three were damaged. Nobody was injured, but the people who lived there are receiving temporary housing through the Red Cross.

Pray for God to reveal His love, power, and comfort through this difficult time for the people involved.
Pray for healing from the trauma and grief that the tenants are experiencing.
Pray for God to meet all the physical needs of the people who lived there.

Entertainment Industry: Amanda Knox has been a strong target of tabloid publicity since her appeal and subsequent release from prison for murder charges. She has been offered a career in adult entertainment as well as a job with a Seattle radio station apparently seeking to exploit the public response to her situation.

Pray for God's guidance in her life, so that her re-entrance into society may also include an entrance into relationship God with peace and direction to make solid decisions for a decent future in her life.
Pray for family and friends of the murder victim, Meredith Kercher, as they are certainly experiencing more of the grief that began 4 years ago through the resurgence of these events throughout the media and all society around them.
Pray for all people of the media seeking to exploit this situation for selfish gains, asking God to end such corruption and to bring peace and justice to all involved.

Portugal: This nation of about 10,700,000 people is struggling from economic depletion that occurred from years of dictatorship and civil war. Living standards improved for a time but have declined again in the last 10 years. Substance abuse and cult worship are among the nation's strongholds. The nation is 90 % Catholic); the Catholic Church has had a positive influence on the nation for the Gospel but is now in need of renewal as it has become more focused on tradition than truth in recent decades.

Pray for Portugal to fully embrace the Gospel of Jesus.
Pray for a re-awakening of Portugal's Catholic Church, that they will once again have the message of the Gospel and relationship with God through Jesus as their priority.
Pray for freedom from the strongholds of addiction and cult involvement.

Local Needs: Ascencia, a Glendale nonprofit organization for housing homeless people, has announced its intention to expand its services to Burbank, so that 20 housing developments will be made available for homeless individuals and families in Burbank.

Pray for God's blessing upon these plans, so that His purposes can be accomplished in the lives of the needy.
Pray that God call people throughout Burbank to have hearts that are willing to sacrifice time, money, material, and anything else that may be needed to help the city's homeless population.
Pray for the 200 homeless people in Burbank to experience the Lord in their life and to have all of their needs met.

Entertainment Industry: The trial of Dr. Conrad Murray (charged for manslaughter related to the death of Michael Jackson) is on its forth day. Many are reporting that theatricality and emotion are controlling the situation. There is a possibility that Jackson's children may have to testify.

Pray for judge, jury, and lawyers to all make justice their true priority in this trial.
Pray for God's protection and healing for Michael Jackson's children Paris (14) and Prince (13) as they endure this ordeal.

Pakistan: The Asian nation of about 185,000 people is an Islamic republic with a long history of government corruption. The government has close ties with the Taliban, and the nation is a hub for Islam extremism and terrorism. 20% of the nation lives below the poverty level. The Church is growing despite extreme oppression.

Pray for God to continue to build up his people in Pakistan, protecting and healing them in the persecution they endure and that many throughout the nation will respond to the message of the Gospel through them.
Pray for God to bring about changes in the government, allowing godly influence in the nation that can positively impact every aspects of how the country functions.
Pray for peace in this nation that has come to depend upon war and internal violence.
Pray for God to call and equip workers who can help provide the needs of those in poverty.

Local Needs: 70 year old Burbank man Joseph Brancato appeared in court this week for the murder of his wife. The time for the next hearing was delayed back (as prior hearings have been) due to his health issues.

Pray for the entire Brancato family to experience God's love and peace during this time of great suffering.
Pray for God to work in a way that justice is accomplished in the court case.
Pray for Joseph to desire and know God and receive forgiveness and hope.

Entertainment Industry: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen--the former child stars of the TV sitcom "Full House" are now 25. They have been in the entertainment industry since they were 9 months old. Though they have continued attempts in various areas of the industry (most recently in fashion design), they have not been generally viewed as successful. Mary-Kate has struggled with anorexia.

Pray for the Olsen twins to experience the Lord in a powerful way that shows them how much more there can be to life than the striving for success in their field which has been all they have known their entire lives.
Pray for God to surround them with people who can be an encouragement and support to them both in their spirituality and in their careers.
Pray for the twins' relationship with each other, which must have its strains from having to uphold the image often defined for them by the industry.

Nicaragua: This Latin American nation of about 5,800,000 people has abundant resources for potential economic security but is one of the poorest nations of America from the effects of 200 years of dictatorships, civil wars, and natural disasters. The country is still experiencing the devastation of its complete economic collapse in the 1980s.God has used many of these difficulties to draw many people to himself; the nation has had religious freedom and a growing Church since 1990. The Church has been increasing in its influence regarding the societal issues.

Pray for God to continue to transform and empower his people in Nicaragua to expand His kingdom throughout the nation, bringing many more to relationship with Jesus.
Pray for godly leadership through which God will transform every aspect of the nation.

Local Needs: 10 Burbank citizens have been diagnosed with West Nile throughout the year, though there have been no deaths. The virus has been found in 11 mosquito samples in Burbank in recent weeks, and many animals have been infected and died of West Nile in the area.

Pray for God's complete healing upon the 10 citizens suffering as a result of the disease.
Pray for God's empowerment upon doctors, epidemiologists, and others working to stop the spread of the disease, praying for God's protection from further infection in the city.

Entertainment Industry: Britney Spears is known almost as much for her unstable lifestyle of drug abuse, mental illness, and relational dysfunction as for her prominent music career. She was raised in the church, was later involved with the Kabbalah religion, but now claims herself unaffiliated with any religious expression. She is twice divorced. She has been involved in the entertainment industry since the age of 8.

Pray for God to reveal Himself to Britney that she may know the power and reality of God's love.
Pray for deliverance from addiction and healing from mental illness and hurts from her life experience.
Pray for her children (Sean and Jayden Federline) to experience God at a young age and to have the opportunity to live healthy, stable, abundant lives.
Pray for her relationship with boyfriend Jason Trawick, that God will bring revelation to the relationship and enable her to have a healthy, lasting relationship.

New Zealand: Pacific island nation of 4,300,000 people. A charismatic renewal began in the 1960s that has continually affected churches across denominations, allowing for a strong church in New Zealand that is known for sending missionaries at a higher ratio than most other nations. However there is division between denominations. New age spirituality and agnosticism pose the threats to the church. There is a large immigrant population in New Zealand which represents a wide variety of religious expressions and has brought much of the New Age influence to the nation. Two earthquakes have hit the city of Christchurch this year, killing nearly 200 people.

Pray for continued outpouring of the Spirit upon New Zealand in such a way that Christians will be the people influencing the nation's spiritual identity.

Local Needs: Prominent Burbank campaign treasurer Kinde Durkee, who has served on hundreds of political campaigns, was arrested for embezzling from the campaign funds she has been hired to manage.

Pray for local officials and candidates who have been harmed by this campaign, asking God to bring justice and restoration of anything lost.
Pray for Durkee to experience conviction from the Holy Spirit, to come to know Jesus and to have a desire to make restitution.
Pray for integrity in all aspects of the campaigns for the 2012 elections.

Entertainment Industry: Rock bassist Gene Simmons of the band KISS announced his engagement to Shannon Tweed who has been his girlfriend for over 20 years. They announced that they have overcome many struggles and will finally be married on October 21.

Pray that God reveals Himself to Gene and Shannon in such a way that they will come to know Him and their marriage will have His love as its foundation.
Pray for their children Nick and Sophie (both in their early 20s) who are both part of Gene & Shannon’s reality TV series “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” praying that the whole family will receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Moldova: This eastern European nation between Romania and Ukraine has a long history of political upheaval stemming from its Communist roots as a part of the former Soviet Union. The Orthodox Church has a strong political influence that tries to prevent the growth of Evangelical Christianity. Unemployment, human trafficking, alcoholism, and organized crime are widespread problems. Much of Moldova is very open to the Gospel, but the message is greatly hindered.

Pray for opportunities and workers to bring the message of Jesus to Moldova, so that all may hear and respond.
Pray for awakening within the Orthodox Church, that vibrant relationship with Jesus will be desired and growth of the whole Church of Christ be embraced and not hindered.
Pray for godly leadership in the government to take a stand against corruption and for justice.
Pray for the nation’s economy, that new jobs become available and every financial need of the country may be met.
Pray for the freedom of all suffering as a result of human trafficking for which Moldova is a hub; pray that the nation become a hub of freedom for women and children rather than a hub of slavery.

Local Needs: There is a high alert for fires at the Angeles National Forest this weekend.

Pray for God’s protection related to the weather conditions of the weekend.
Pray for U.S. Forest Service workers to be able to help the people visiting to take all necessary precautions to stay safe.

Entertainment Industry: Rapper, music producer, and actor T.I. was released from prison this week after a 10 month term. He has had numerous drug charges and violent offences since the age of 14.

Pray for conviction in T.I.’s life, so that his release from prison can truly be a new start for him, with God providing freedom from addiction and all other bondage leading him in truth.
Pray for family, colleagues, and others who have been affected by his actions and prison time, that they will experience God’s hope and peace, that relationships will be healed, and the kingdom of God experienced by those around him.

Mexico: In 1992, Mexico became a nation of religious freedom, breaking its governmental ties with the Roman Catholic Church, but persecution against non-Catholics remains in some areas. There is a growth of evangelical Christianity and openness to the Gospel. Many societal ills plague Mexico including poverty, drug trafficking, addiction, and gang violence.

The Church is growing in its influence in dealing with social issues; pray for God to continue to anoint, bless, and protect the work of his people in Mexico.
A Charismatic renewal is occurring within the Catholic Church; pray that through the continuation of this work of the Spirit, unity in the whole Church will result.
Pray for committed spiritual leadership as many people are being converted but left with a shallow understanding of their faith and little to no follow-up.
Pray for the children of Mexico; there are over 800,000 street children, and over 11 million kids under the age of 15 are forced to drop out of school to work.
Pray for all involved with the drug trafficking business; it has had a positive impact on the economy, making it difficult for governmental leadership to take a stand against it. Pray that decisions no longer be made out of fear and economic self-interest but for the healing of the nation.
Pray for President Felipe Calderon who has declared that an end to poverty (which currently affects 60% of the population) is his highest priory, asking God to encourage and enable him in reaching this goal.

Madagascar: The African island of Madagascar is one of the world's poorest countries. It is marred with political instability and corruption. They have religious freedom politically; however there is extreme division among Christians and persecution between denominations. Charismatic/Pentecostal groups fast growing but heavily persecuted.

Pray for continued growth in the Holy Spirit's movement in Madagascar.
Pray for protection of God's people and unity in the Church.
Pray for God to open up doors for economic growth, ending the poverty and healing the land that is largely unusable for agriculture.

Entertainment Industry--Amanda Bynes: A former child star on various Nickelodeon programming, Bynes has remained active as an actress, singer, and fashion designer, but in the last 3 years her clothing line went bankrupt and she planned to retire from acting (though she ended up not retiring). She was raised by a Catholic father and Jewish mother; she said that she is uncertain about where she fits spiritually and has not yet chosen a religion.

Pray for Amanda to have an encounter with God that erases all confusion, so that she may find her identify in Christ.
Pray for God's direction in Amanda's career, that she will begin making decisions based upon relationship with God and have a full sense of calling on her life.

Liechtenstein: This small European nation between Austria and Switzerland has a population of 36,000. It is a wealthy nation, though much of its wealth is believed to have come through government corruption. The Roman Catholic Church has been historically the state church, though much upheaval has occurred in the church, and nominal Christianity is the norm. Islam is growing rapidly.

Pray for a re-awakening of the church in Liechtenstein through a nation-wide experience of the Holy Spirit.
Pray for the small, but growing evangelical community, that through them God's kingdom will come in their nation.
Pray for God's salvation to the Muslim population, preventing further growth of the religion's deception.
Pray for all scandalous handling of money to be exposed, that justice may reign in Liechtenstein.

Local Need: An apparent gang-related shooting took place in Northridge last evening. The perpetrator walked to a car and shot, killing the 18 year old male passenger and wounding the female driver, in her early 20s, who is now in stable condition.

Pray for complete physical, emotional, and spiritual healing of the survivor.
Pray for God to reveal himself and to provide peace and comfort for the family and friends of the victim who was killed.
Pray for God to lead the police as they investigate this crime, exposing the truth.
Pray for God's protection upon the San Fernando Valley from future gang-related crimes, praying for intervention to put a stop to gang activity.

Entertainment Industry: Paris Hilton has been involved in several aspects of the entertainment industry over the last 8 years. She has had several drug-related arrests and has been in and out of treatment centers. Much of her involvement in the entertainment industry has been highly sexual. She was raised Catholic and recently claimed to read the Bible daily and attend mass weekly.

Pray for God to draw Paris into more intimate relationship with him that she has ever thought possible, removing anything blinding her from fully experiencing the truth she has exposed to.
Pray for God's deliverance from all addiction and help her to fully find her identity through relationship with him.
Pray for God to surround Paris with people who will be a positive influence in her life for spiritual growth.

Lesotho: An African nation of about 2 million people, Lesotho is a nation of extreme poverty, lacking in agriculture and infrastructure. Nearly 45% of the nation is unemployed. It is a relatively new democracy following years of instability and dictatorial leadership. There is a high rate of HIV/AIDS.

Pray for God to open up opportunities for economic growth throughout the nation, providing employment, proper nutrition, and healthcare to the entire nation.
Pray for the 23% of the population with HIV and the 100,000 orphans of parents who died of AIDS; pray for ministries and government organizations to be risen up to care for these people and be part of the nation's eradication of HIV/AIDS in Lesotho.
Pray for the nation's Christian population (nearly 90%) which is largely nominal, following tradition more than relationship with Jesus; pray for the Holy Spirit to bring new life into the church in Lesotho.

Local Needs: Glendale has cut ties with Los Angeles County Homeless Services Authority which has provided shelter for the homeless people of Burbank and Glendale in the winter months. It was a financial decision that will impact what services will be available for next winter.

Pray for God to grant needed finances to ensure that services will be available for shelter in the winter months, as well as to help those homeless in our community at all times.
Pray for God's favor and blessing upon the homeless of Burbank and Glendale, that all needs will be met and that their homelessness will end quickly.
Pray for the citizens of Burbank and Glendale to be moved with hearts of compassion to give whatever can be given to meet the needs of our community's homeless people.

Oprah Winfrey: Raised with Christian values and a strong knowledge of God's Word through her grandmother, Oprah began rebelling as a teenager. She is now known for her devotion to New Age teaching, which she has led many to follow.

Pray for Oprah to meet Jesus in a powerful way, showing her the truth in what she was taught as a child and healing all the hurts and trauma which she claim her New Age beliefs have helped with.

Kenya: A nation of 40,862,900 people, Kenya is known as the core of Christian ministry in Africa. The nation has full religious freedom, and 82% of the people claim Christianity.

Pray for God to continue equipping and empowering the nation to reach all Africa with the Gospel of Jesus.
Drought has caused 80% of the nation's livestock to be killed and crops destroyed; pray for God's healing and provision on the land of Kenya so that all the peoples' physical needs will be met.
Pray for the children of Kenya, as there is a very high rate of homelessness and AIDS among the nation's children.
Pray for God to bring just and godly leaders into political offices, ending the high degree of political corruption common in the nation.

Local Needs: A Burbank home was robbed on Wednesday morning by criminals claiming to be FBI agents. The couple and their teenage son were treated for minor wounds, and a large amount of money was stolen.

Pray for God to bring peace to this family, to heal them from the effects of trauma, and to reveal His love and power to them.
Pray for restoration of all that was stolen (moth materially and emotionally) to the family.
Pray for the Burbank Police Department as they search for the burglars, to quickly find every person involved, and that justice will occur as a result.
Pray for God to bring conviction and forgiveness to the robbers, that they also will come to receive Jesus as their Savior.

Entertainment Industry: We will pray for the family and friends of 27-year old singer Amy Winehouse who died last Saturday of (most likely) drug related causes.

Pray for comfort, peace, and a revelation of the person of Jesus to all of Amy's family and friends (her parents Mitchell and Janis, her brother Alex, and her boyfriend Reg Traviss).
Pray generally for those in the entertainment industry struggling with addiction, that God will bring healing and transformation, preventing many others from such a young death.

Japan: The nation of Japan is experiencing continually slow recovery from the March earthquake. Over 22,000 people are dead or missing. The country continues to suffer the effects of the nuclear leaks.

Pray for peace in this nation and healing from all the trauma and grief that the people are suffering.
Pray for all the relief efforts, that God will meet every need through the nonprofit and government organizations there.
Pray for a restoration of Japan's economy which was in decline even before the earthquake and is continually increasing in its struggle.
Pray for God's healing of the environment and supernatural prevention of all sickness possible through the nuclear leaks.
70% of Japan's population is Buddhist and only 1.5% is Christian. Pray for God to reveal himself to Japan in such a way that many come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Pray for God's provision and creation of jobs in Burbank in the coming months.
Pray for success of local businesses to increase in such a way that there is need and room in the budget for more employees.
Pray for all the unemployed people of Burbank, asking for God's strength and hope.

Entertainment Industry: Kat Dennings is an up-and coming actress who made several television appearances as a teenager. She is now 24 and has had supporting roles in ten major movies over the last five years including "Thor." She is from a Jewish background but claims that religion does not play a major role in her life today.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal Jesus to her as the Messiah she heard of in her childhood.
Pray for God to bring people into her path and into the lives of her family who will be of spiritual and emotional support, leading them into truth.
Pray for God to direct her career in such a way that his will for her life will be realized.

Israel: Since Israel's reinstatement as a nation in 1948, the country has been involved in much warfare against and threat from its surrounding Muslim nations. There is also much internal division regarding the peace process. Full religious freedom had not been allowed to Jews who follow Jesus as Messiah until 2009. 75% of the nation is of non-Messianic Jewish faith.

Praise God for the new freedom available to Messianic Jews.
Despite the new freedom, there remains significant persecution of Messianic Jews; pray for God's comfort, healing, and provision to make their witness increasingly effective and that ultimately they will find freedom from the persecution they experience.
Pray that many who are still waiting for Messiah will experience signs and wonders pointing them to Jesus as their Messiah.
Pray for an end to the conflict with other nations and within Israel itself, praying specifically for peace in the city of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6).
Pray for God to break through past the barriers regarding how many Jews view Christianity through a perspective of past persecution, even the Holocaust since Easter Germany was named a Christian nation; ask God to open the eyes of Jews to see that Christianity is the fulfillment of God's promises to them as his covenant people.

Pray for God to expose exactly what has occurred before any more damage can be done.
Pray for God to protect all the people who are affected by this theft, so that no identity theft will occur.
Pray for God to reveal Himself to the victims, the perpetrators, and the investigators involved in this crime, that God may use it to show his glory and bring many to Him.

Entertainment Industry: Rapper Tone Loc is on trial for felony possession of an assault weapon and domestic abuse. He pleaded not guilty and will have his next court appearance on July 28.

Pray for God to reveal the truth in this case, so that justice will be accomplished.
Pray for God to reveal Himself to Tone Loc in such a way that he will desire to know God and to be a new creation in Christ.
Pray for God's healing and restoration upon anybody who may have been harmed by Tone Loc (if the accusations are true).

Iran: This Islamic republic has been marred for decades by war, poverty, and dictatorship.

Pray for complete freedom (religiously, politically, and socially) in this nation, as its people are held under much oppression by its authorities.
Pray for the conversion of many in the nation who are disillusioned with Islam. There are massive rates of Muslim people receiving Christ in the last 30 years as they become increasingly suspicious of the Muslim faith. Pray for the Holy Spirit to continue this work, bringing many more into relationship with the Father.
Pray for God's protection, healing, and freedom for Iran's Christians, Sufi Muslims, and Baha'i followers who are all under intense religious persecution.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring opportunities to Christians to share their faith (as there is currently no freedom to do this) in such a way that the light of Christ may shine in Iran like it never has before.
Pray for Iranians under the age of 30 who are especially open to the Gospel. Pray for God to use this generation to radically change the nation for the glory of God and for the good of Iran's people.

Local Needs: 70-year old Burbank man Joseph Robert Brancato is in police custody following the death of his wife Marie. He was arrested for domestic abuse against her in 2010.

Pray for the family and friends of Marie as they grieve their loss.
Pray for truth and justice in the investigation so that the actual cause of death will be known and dealt with appropriately.
Pray for Joseph to experience the Lord during this time however he needs.

Entertainment Industry: Woody Allen (75 year old comedian, director, actor, and musician whose work often has prominent features regarding his own disillusionment with his religious Jewish upbringing as well as religion in general but also a near obsession with death; he says that he hopes that God exists but highly doubts it but greatly fears death).

Pray for God to reveal himself to Woody Allen in such a way that all his unbelief and disillusionment is washed away.
Pray for God to move in the areas of his fear, that he may recognize his sinful state and need of a Savior, receiving having all fear of death removed.

Indonesia: A nation of severe poverty, nearly half of its population survives on $2/day. Political instability and the great wealth of a very small portion of people prevent economic growth. It is believed that the nation's governmental troubles, religious tensions, poor human rights, and overpopulation could all yield massive violence. The Church has grown dramatically in the last 50 years; there are about 13 million Christians (5.6% of the population).

Praise God for the influence and legacy the church has had over the last year; pray that this continues and many more come to know Jesus as their Savior.
Pray for peace and reconciliation in the many racial and religious tensions that occur throughout the society.
Pray for the government as they transition into a democracy, asking God to make them a government founded on justice and what is truly best for the people of the country.
Pray for healing, hope, and a place of settlement for the many displaced people due to natural disasters, violence, religious persecution, and migrant labor.
Pray for deliverance from the long history of occult involvement and a current insurgence of Islamic influence as well as erroneous teaching within the Christian community, so that the light of Jesus will shine and all this spiritual darkness will be removed.
Pray for freedom, healing, and justice for the nearly 100,000 women and children who are sold for sexual exploitation each year in Indonesia.

Local Needs: Extreme heat and dryness is predicted over the 4th of July weekend, causing threat of fires and heat stroke.

Pray for God's protection upon all people in the Burbank area during this time, preventing any damage that the heat could cause.

Entertainment Industry: Several churches and parachurch organizations are teaming up for a prayer walk across Hollywood on Saturday June 9. Special focus will be on praying for the studios, strip clubs, and The Scientology Center.

Pray for God to continue calling people to join in this prayer walk, and pray for God to lead every aspect of it, so that his kingdom will come and his will be done in Hollywood.
Pray for a work of the Holy Spirit to bring salvation, conviction, and transformation to all the people involved in the studios, strip clubs, and Scientology Center of Hollywood.

India: India has a population of 1,2214,464,312 people. There are over 71 million Christians, but this is only 5.8 % of the people. A vast majority is Hindu. Religious freedom is new in the country. Political leadership has been continually unstable with 1/5 of Parliament having criminal cases against them in 2010.

Pray for continued growth in the nation's religious freedom.
Pray for God to break through past the vast government corruption and bring national leaders who will seek truth and justice.
Pray for God's provision in the health of the people of India as 40% of the population who suffer from malnutrition and there is a rising prevalence of HIV/AIDS.

Local Needs: An 88 year old woman (name not released) is recovering after being hit a car as the driver was texting while driving and she was walking using a marked crosswalk. She is in stable condition, but the driver (Jerome Deveas) is facing felony charges of reckless driving. The city is beginning to heavily enforce the law against texting while driving.

Pray for the woman's continued and complete recovery (physically, emotionally, and spiritually).
Pray for Deveas as he faces these charges, that he will experience God's presence during this time where he is on trial, as well as for emotional and spiritual healing from the trauma and guilt he is most likely experiencing.
Pray for the citizens and law enforcement of Burbank to work together both in obeying and enforcing simple laws that help protect the people of our city.

Entertainment Industry: We have prayed for Lindsay Lohan several times in recent months. She continues to be in much trouble. Many believe that she is being given special treatment by courts because of her celebrity status.

Pray for Lindsay to receive God's forgiveness, salvation, healing, and deliverance.
Pray for everyone involved in making legal decisions concerning her cases, asking for God's wisdom, leading them to what is just.

Iceland: This North Atlantic island nation has a rich Christian history, and although over 90% of the country claims to be Christian, most seem to be nominal. It is one of the wealthiest nations, and though very small it has a high rate of immigration.

Pray for a re-awakening to the vibrant life with Christ that was once experienced in Iceland, breaking past all complacency so that they may once again place trust in Christ rather than their material wealth.
Pray for workers in the harvest to be risen up, partnering with God both to revive the church that has grown cold as well as reaching out to the many immigrants who have not yet been exposed to the Gospel message.
Pray for wisdom in all political leadership as related to the high population growth of such a small nation, that all these adjustments will be made appropriately in ways that best meet the needs of the country.

Local Needs: City Council is being questioned for their financial priorities as they have decided to spend $2 million in bailouts to keep DeBell Golf Club from bankruptcy while cutting funds for the fire department, city youth jobs, and library improvements.

Pray for God to lead the City Council members in such a way that their priorities line up with God's priorities in what is truly best for the city of Burbank.
Pray for the citizens of Burbank to speak up wherever necessary, so that the City Council may know how to best represent the people of the city as they were elected to do.

Entertainment Industry: Warner Bros. Studios laid off 50 of its employees in the home entertainment division. This follows other studios' similar situations since home video sales continue to drop rapidly.

Pray that God will provide new employment quickly (and all financial needs in the meantime) for those who have been laid off.
Pray that new jobs will be created that can replace those no longer necessary due to these industry changes.
Pray for God's protection of all the remaining jobs at WB and the other studios that have undergone much change this month.

Haiti: There has been a strong spiritual response to last year's tragic earthquake. Prayer, repentance, and calling upon God have been nearly universal throughout the nation. There have been many reports of God doing mighty works in Haiti, though the need remains tremendous.

Praise God for the way he has revealed himself to the nation in the last year.
Pray for the continued healing of lives, rebuilding of infrastructure, and rescuing of financial and political structures that all remain in great turmoil from the earthquake.
Pray for national deliverance from a long history of voodoo, slavery, and genocide that still have a strong spiritual impact on the nation. Many believe that Haiti was dedicated to Satan through its voodoo past; pray that Haiti will become completely dedicated to God.
While a vast majority of the nation is Christian in name, many of them also practice voodoo. Pray for these people to receive conviction from God, that they will turn from their idolatry and truly give their lives to Jesus.
Pray for God to call and equip Christian leaders who can be effective in partnering with God to transform the church and reach the lost of Haiti.

Pray for God to reveal Himself (His love and His truth) to those graduating over this weekend representing a major life change for them and their families.
Pray for God's direction upon the life of each graduate, so that His plans will be known and followed by them so that their lives may become what God created them to be.

Entertainment Industry: Several major companies (including Fox and Disney) have announced large numbers of lay-offs over the last week. Jobs in distribution and IT are especially in jeopardy.

Pray for those who have already lost their job this week, asking God to provide for the individuals and families effected demonstrating his love for them in miraculous ways through which they will come to know Him.
Pray for God's provision within the companies to prevent further job loss.

Guatemala: Guatemala has a long history of economic woes. After many years of financial inequity, an agreement was made in 1996 that began economic recovery. However, frequent hurricanes have caused devastation since that have hindered these efforts, and poverty remains very strong. The nation is predominantly Christian in name, but most practice pagan religions.

Pray for God to show Himself to all who profess His name, so that they may truly experience the reality of knowing Him and have transformed lives.
Pray for continued cooperation between the church and the government related to social issues of homelessness, street children and substance abuse in such a way that the nation will experience complete transformation by the power of God.
Guatemala has the highest murder rate of Latin American nations. Pray for God to save people involved in the youth gangs, drug tracking, organized crime, and death squads that are primarily responsible and for government influence to be able to make a difference, creating a safe environment.
Pray for the children of Guatemala, as a majority between ages 6 and 18 live in poverty. Many are orphans, and many are subjected to child labor, drugs, gangs, and the sex industry. They are in desperate need of God's healing, protection, and provision and for the intervention of adults who can help meet needs and be positive influences for them.

Local Needs: We prayed earlier this year for the Burbank Leader's allegations against the city of Burbank for not releasing information regarding salary bonuses which were believed to be excessive. Los Angeles Superior Court sided with the Burbank Leader calling for all such information to be released.

Pray for God to direct all people involved in the allocation of all funds, so that the priorities for all funding will begin to line up with God's priorities.
Pray that if there has been any financial corruption as the Burbank Leader suspected that this court ruling will help to expose that.

Entertainment Industry: Leslie Ann Warren has been a prominent television personality from the 1960s through the present including such shows as "Mission: Impossible" and "Desperate Housewives." She was raised Jewish and now claims to have her own sense of spirituality without religion.

Pray that Jesus will reveal himself to Leslie as the only way to true spirituality.
Pray for God to move in her marriage, asking God to bless her and her husband Ronald Taft, making their marriage what He created it to be.
Pray that God directs her career, so that as He reveals Himself to her, He will also lead her in career choices that glorify Him and impact the industry for His glory.

Ghana: This African nation has a strong and growing Christian community with religious freedom and a strong influence in evangelism. The country is 63% Christian, and virtually all the people have had some degree of exposure to the Gospel. Poverty and environmental concerns are primary struggles for Ghana.

Pray that God continues to use each believer to accomplish His will for the nation.
There are several groups within the Christian community who have tried to mix other religious beliefs with Christianity; pray that people to trust in Christ alone and that God will purify His church.
Islam is a growing influence with a goal to conquer Ghana; pray that God will draw Muslims to Himself, halting further plans of militant Muslims.
Pray for God to shower blessings upon the nation that will meet physical needs, ending the nation's poverty and healing the environment, allowing the land to be healthy and productive, providing more means for economic growth through agriculture.

Local Needs: Burbank police are searching for the person who committed armed burglary at the El Torito restaurant on Saturday, stealing $4,000 and threatening two managers. Pray for God to lead the police as they search, so that the criminal will be found and there will be justice.

Pray for God's healing upon the managers from the trauma they have suffered as well as a recovery of the restaurant's finances.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will use these circumstances to bring people (the victims, the criminal, and those investigating the crime) into relationship with God.

Entertainment Industry: We prayed several months ago for Billy Ray and Trish Cyrus (parents of Miley Cyrus) who were going to be divorced; Billy Ray has recently withdrawn the divorce papers and is seeking reconciliation.

Praise God for changing hearts in this family as he has done.
Pray for a continuation of this great work, so that the whole family will grow in their relationships with each other and with the Lord.

Fiji: This island nation in the South Pacific is one of the area's most economically prosperous nations. The nation has been independent from Great Britain for about 40 years, but military coups continuously threaten the nation's stability.

Pray for God to transform Fiji's government which is marred with corruption and racism, making it a nation of stability, peace, justice, and equality.
Pray for the healing and freedom for Fiji's Eastern Indian population which is not allowed to own land and held under many other rigid restrictions that should be seen as violations to their human rights.
The Methodist church has had much positive influence on the nation's spirituality, but it has not addressed many of the social ills; pray for God to use this church to more fully be a representation of his love to the country.
There has been evangelical growth in Fiji but a lack in leadership; pray for God to raise up leaders to build up nations' believers in becoming his vessels to reach Fiji and other nations.

Local Needs: California legislators have one month left to pass state budget.

Pray for all involved in this process to have the wisdom to recognize the most pressing economic needs of the state addressing them appropriately in the budget.
Pray for God's provision in the state, using every decision made in this budget to benefit all of California's residents.

Entertainment Industry: Jeff Coanway was a popular actor in the 70s known for his roles in the TV series "Taxi" and the movie "Grease." He overdosed on painkillers a week ago and remains hospitalized in critical condition. He has had a long history of addiction.

Pray for God's complete healing in Conaway's body and for revelation of Himself through that healing.
Pray for delive1rance from addiction and healing from all spiritual and emotional problems that keep him in bondage.
Pray for God to bring people who will be a support in his life in every way he needs.

El Salvador

Praise God for the nation's government growing in stability of the last 20 years following decades of war and corrupt dictatorial leadership.
Praise God for the steady growth of an evangelical community in El Salvador, growing from 2.3% of the nation in 1960 to 32% in 2010.
Pray for complete recovery from the social and psychological wounds caused by centuries of oppression, violence, and hatred.
Pray for the 9,000 evangelical churches that have been planted in El Salvador, yet many are without solid leadership.

Local Needs: The Burbank Teacher's Union is fighting statewide budget cuts that are hindering the education of children and threatening the jobs of teachers by conducting a "grade-in" at the Burbank Town Center.

Pray for God to bless these efforts, using them to make changes that will increase funding for education to be used for the benefit of Burbank's children and teens.
Pray for God's protection upon the jobs of teachers, providing job and financial security for each of Burbank's teachers.

Entertainment Industry: Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver separated this week.

Pray that God will reveal himself, so that they may draw strength from Him.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to heal and change their hearts bringing about reconciliation in their marriage.
Pray for God's comfort and peace upon their four children (ages 21, 20, 18, and 14).

Czech Republic: This central European country was under Communist rule until 1989; the nation remains primarily atheist/agnostic.

Pray for God to call workers in the harvest in the Czech Republic, so that many may hear and respond to the good news of Jesus Christ.
Pray for God to soften hearts to seek after truth once again, learning to depend on Jesus as their source of all provision, as there was much spiritual seeking in the early 1990s that has lessened continuously as the nation's economy has continuously increased.
Pray for the Church in the Czech Republic to grow in wisdom and opportunity regarding the freedom that they have; pray that they will be directed in how to use that freedom to grow the Kingdom of God in their nation.
Materialism, crime, sexual immorality, substance abuse, depression, and suicide are all more common now than during Communist rule; pray for God to break through past these social ills, bringing peace and wholeness to the land.

Pray for Burbank's city council, asking God for a smooth transition and for peace and mutuality between the council and the new mayor

Entertainment Industry: Actor/comedian Andy Dick was arrested for another alcohol-related disturbance; he has been in and out of treatment many times.

Pray for God's healing and conviction in his life, that he may find hope and deliverance from his addiction through relationship with Jesus
Pray for Andy Dick's family and others adversely effected by his behavior, that they will receive help from the Lord to overcome and be healed from the harm it has caused them

Costa Rica

Costa Rica has many evangelistic ministries that have been successful with numbers of people coming to Christ, but lacking follow-up a majority seem to be unconnected to Christian community; pray for God to raise up people who will make disciples out of the many converts
The nation's Roman Catholic church has been historically impacted by charismatic renewal, however there has been a strong movement toward nominal Christianity in the recent years of Costa Rica's Catholic church; pray for God to make himself known once again in a powerful, personal way among the nation's Catholics
Two thirds of the nation is under the age of 30; there is a lack of ministry to these young people; pray for God to raise up leaders that can represent Christ to this generation and bring many salvations to Costa Rica's young people
Addiction, violence, and immorality plague the nation (especially those under 30); pray for a work of the Holy Spirit to move in healing and hope, leading them to identity in Christ and to new life that overcomes these evils

Pray for the suspect, that God will reveal Himself through conviction and willingness to forgive, as well as in healing while he is in the hospital
Pray for all involved in the investigation, that truth and justice will be upheld

Comoros: African nation consisting of three Islands between Madagascar and Mozambique; the nation was almost completely un-evangelized before 1973; while there has been growth, many still have not heard the Gospel; Islam is the predominant religion, and radical, violent Islam is on the rise

Pray for God to raise up people to make the truth of God's love and purposes known for Comoros
Pray for God's peace and love to reign in the nation, stopping the spread of radical Islam
Occult practices and drug abuse are common in the nation causing immense spiritual bondage; pray for God's deliverance, thwarting demonic plans

Pray for the arrested man to experience the love of God and come to know Jesus
Thank God for his protection in this situation, that nobody was harmed; pray for God's continued protection upon Burbank's police force as they work to protect the city.

Pray for peace and love in the marriage of Cage and his wife Alice Kim
Pray for the Holy Spirit's work in both Cage & Kim, drawing them to the Lord

Colombia: A nation marred with years of political unrest and extremely high rates of violent crime; much of the nation's economy is dependent upon cocaine production

Thank God for the progress that has been made in recent years where many of the crime organizations are losing their power and government just beginning to stabilize
Pray for God's favor among government officials, that they will be able to advance in the changes that have begun, taking a strong stance against violence, and quickly leading Colombia to becoming a nation of peace
Pray for the nation's economy to be strengthened through positive means, ending the dependence upon cocaine production
Pray for God's conviction and transformation of those addicted to drugs and caught in the midst of the prominence of drug cartels
Pray for the church in Colombia, as the Catholic church has lost much of its influence in the last 20 years and the growing evangelical movement is subject to much violence, lacking in leadership; there is a strong lack of unity among Catholics and Protestants

Entertainment Industry: Charlie Sheen has been claiming he is being considered to return to his role on "Two and Half Men;" producers deny this and say they refuse to have any more to do with his irresponsible behavior

Pray for the God's work in Sheen's life, allowing him to see the truth of his need for Jesus
Pray for all involved with "3 and a Half Men," that their work will be able to continue and the right replacement for Sheen be found

China (The People's Republic of China)

Praise God for dramatic growth in the Church from 2.7 million evangelicals in 1975 to 75 million in 2010
Pray for the Chinese government which continues in its long history of oppression and its influence has become global; pray for God's intervention against the corruption and oppressive nature of the government, allowing freedom and peace to reign
China is still officially an atheistic nation even following the fall of Communism, allowing much persecution of the Christian Church; pray for protection and healing upon all being persecuted and a quick end to the persecution
Pray for governmental practices of population control which have been extremely oppressive including their "one-child policy" leading to over 13 million forced abortions per year, asking for God to take over, removing this evil and providing a way for ethical population control
Pollution and lack of clean water have caused many health issues and child birth defects; pray for a government willing to make changes of policy will help; pray for God's touch upon the environment to heal the land of China and provide for its every need

Many in the Church tend to combine their Christian beliefs with occult practices; pray for God to show Himself as completely sufficient for all spiritual needs, putting an end to all CAR's idolatry

BTAC is a nonprofit organization that helps feed the poor and homeless. Donations are rapidly decreasing and they are less able to fulfill their mission.

Pray the people and churches of Burbank give from the abundance that God blesses them with. Pray that God’s Holy Spirit bring conviction to our hearts to help those in greater need than ourselves.
Pray for God's provision for BTAC so they can continue to distribute aid to the people of Burbank that are in need.

Entertainment Industry: Hollywood Prayer Network (HPN)

The Hollywood Prayer Network is a non-denominational Christian ministry with the purpose of praying for the people, projects and influence of the Entertainment Industry.

HPN has experienced a tremendous growth in membership and opportunity, but also a low season of financial support. Praise God for the new members and opportunities to minister!
Pray the Holy Spirit draw new supporters to partner financially with this ministry

Canada
Though Canada has a strong Christian heritage, the nation has become widely secularized. The Church has lost most of the influence it once had. The terms "born again" and "evangelical" are generally viewed in a negative light.

Pray for spiritual reawakening in the nation; that both the Church and Jesus Himself will once again be seen as relevant and necessary to the people of Canada.
Pray for God to show Himself in such a way that truth will be embraced.
The province of Quebec keeps itself politically and culturally separate form the rest of Canada, and has often considered breaking away to become an independent nation. Pray for reconciliation and unity within the nation of Canada.

Entertainment Industry: Anthony Hopkins

In a recent interview with Charlie Ross, Hopkins talked candidly about his journey from atheism to Catholic faith that he claimed has transformed his life, though he struggles to hold on; pray for God's strength and endurance to solidify his walk with the Lord
Hopkins has had a long battle with alcoholism; though sober for many years he still needs continued deliverance and healing from all the past that continues to haunt and tempt him; pray that God minister to him in this way

Cambodia

Buddhism has been national religion since 1400s; pray for God to break through past this long history of spiritual confusion and reveal Himself to the nation of Cambodia
Cambodia has been in a season Church growth; pray that God continue to raise up workers in the harvest, so that many more will come to know Jesus (Luke 10:2)
The genocide of 1975-1979 still has a tremendous effect on the nation; trials are currently being conducted related to the Communist regime believed to be responsible; pray for God's justice within these trials and for Cambodia's complete healing following decades of suffering
Cambodia is one of the world's poorest countries; this poverty has led to much corruption, violence, and terrible treatment of children (child labor, sex trade, and homelessness common among the nation's children); pray for God's provision that will change every aspect of the nation, making it a land of peace and wholeness

Pray for the investigation, that police will find truth in the intentions of this incident
Pray for protection of CSUN staff and students, that any plans for harm in this area will be completely thwarted
Pray for these 2 Islamic groups, that God will reveal who he truly is to them, and that they will come to him and seek peace among each other

Entertainment Industry: Death of Rapper Nate Dogg on Tuesday

Pray for his family, friends, and other people in the industry as they grieve their loss
Pray for God to reveal Himself to those who knew him, as his death confronts them with the reality of life's shortness, that many may see and respond to Jesus in their need of a Savior

Botswana

Praise God for his work in this nation which has religious freedom and openness to the Gospel, much evangelistic ministry, healthy economy, and stable government, all of which are rare in Africa
Pray for the Tswana people (one of several tribal groups in Botswana) who are mostly Christian in name, though many are known to live very immoral lifestyles and the families of this people group are in crisis; pray for God's restoration to the family system and hope restored to the Tswana people
Botswana has the world's second-highest prevalence of AIDS; pray for government and ministry programs that are working towards change
Pray for continued openness to the Gospel in Botswana, and that through that openness many more will receive Jesus and experience His abundant life

City Council is seeking to close $8.4 million budget gap; pray for the decisions being made, that God will provide wisdom and finances to strengthen the city
Jobs will most likely be lost soon as a result of the decisions being made; pray for God's protection and provision upon those most directly effected by this process
Pray for those working in emergency services, as these departments will most likely be the first effected; pray for God's help to keep these services running efficiently despite the changes ahead

Entertainment Industry: Colin Firth

Pray for God's ministry in the actor at a high point in his career following his Oscar last month; pray that the Holy Spirit will help him see God as the true source of his talent and success
Pray for Firth's wife Livia Giuggioli and their children (Lucca and Matteo), that God will protect this family and reveal Himself to them, and especially minister to them in times of separation as Firth spends much of his time in Hollywood while the rest of the family stays in England
Firth is heavily involved in political and charitable organizations in both the U.S. and England to encourage justice and economic stability in developing nations; pray for God to use this work to His glory

Japan

At least 350 people were killed from the tsunami and earthquake that hit at the same time; pray for God to reveal Himself to the nation in His mercy and comfort in this time of national trauma, mourning and upheaval
Pray for the rescue efforts, that God will restore life to those still unaccounted for
Pray for the recovery efforts in rebuilding following many destroyed homes and other buildings; pray for God's financial provision to bless them and restore all that has been lost economically
Pray for the help of other nations to help bring food, clean water, equipment, and all that is needed at this time

Burbank city council gave this organization a large grant to help Burbank's homeless; pray that the money be used well to accomplish that goal
Initially, money will be used to transport homeless people to the National Guard Armory in Glendale where basic needs can be met; pray for workers who can be proactive in teaching and leading these people towards self-sufficiency
Pray for the involvement of Burbank's Christians in this endeavor, so that it can become a way through which peoples' greatest need, relationship with God, is also met

Entertainment Industry Sundance Film Festival: January 20-30

Pray for all Christians in attendance, that the Holy Spirit brings opportunity for witness in such a way that will change the film industry for God's glory
Pray for people trying to make a start in the film industry through this festival, that favor be granted and talent be recognized
Pray the jury that judges the films, that they award with fairness

Aruba

Praise God for immigration of Christians to Aruba that has provided a greater evangelical influence in recent years

Burbank: Burglary Ring
Police officials have issued a citywide crime alert due to a string of car burglaries on the west side of Burbank. Eighteen vehicles were broken in to between January 6-7. Most of the incidents occurred in the evening to unlocked cars.

Pray for authorities to find the criminals
Pray for restoration to all the rightful owners of all that has been stolen
Pray for God's Spirit to move in both conviction toward the thief/thieves and in comfort to the victim

Entertainment Industry: Charlie Sheen

Although happy with his professional performance, CBS entertainment is concerned about the personal life of Charlie Sheen, star of its hit TV show Two and a Half Men.

Pray for his family, friends, and co-workers who may be suffering because of Charlie’s decisions
Pray for God's conviction of truth that this bondage is evidence of his need for Jesus
Pray for wisdom of the show's producers to know how to best handle the difficulties he is causing them in continuing with their jobs

Africa

Africa is a continent of over 55 countries and 1 billion people. The lack of an educated middle class and infrastructure (roads, schools, hospitals, etc.) undermines true economic growth. Average life expectancy in Africa is approximately 55 years. Areas where prayer and action are needed include:

Youth – 41.2% of the population is under 15 years old (over 400 million people). Pray for a spiritual awakening among the youth of Africa.
Despite a significant supply of natural resources, but wide spread corruption and civil wars have impoverished much of the continent. Pray for an end to corruption and war that would re-inject billions of dollars back into African economies.
Appropriate aid and development programs are needed to establish a sustainable infrastructure. There are many short-term fixes, but little long-term plans to aid lasting economic growth. Pray for creative leaders to aid true and lasting economic growth.
African nations are in major debt to developed nations. Many spend more on debt than on health care and education. Pray for a relief and/or forgiveness of this debt.

Pray for a complete end to any corruption in the department and restoration to any people who have been harmed

Entertainment Industry Hollywood's Influence on the Muslim World

Studies show that that young Muslims around the world who are exposed to American television are far less likely to join terrorist organizations; praise God for using this means to protect people throughout the world
Pray for wisdom throughout the entertainment industry to use this influence appropriately
Pray for Christians in Hollywood to create programming that can further influence these young people, leading them to Christ

The City of Burbank will commemorate the 100th anniversary of its incorporation date on July 8, 2011. Throughout the year, we will focus on various areas in prayer. This week, we begin with prayer for our city council members. Current council members include, Anja Reinke, Mayor, Jess Talamantes, Vice Mayor, Gary Bric, Council Member, Dave Golonski, Council Member, and Dr. David Gordon, Council Member.

May God grant them wisdom to lead the city
May each member and their family be safe and healthy in the coming year
May the council members be an example of integrity and strength for the city

On January 1, Oprah Winfrey will launch her much anticipated cable network OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network). Winfrey, at 56 the most powerful woman in the entertainment industry, is giving up her long-running talk show in September.

Pray that Oprah continue to use your influence in the industry, as well as the culture, for good
Pray that the programing decisions made at OWN bring good and truth to the audience
Pray that God bring Christ followers in to positions of leadership and influence at OWN

The World
We begin the year praying for global needs.

Pray for those living in major cities around the world. 51% of the world’s population live in cities of 1 million or more. Pray for peace and safety where organized crime, marginalization and drugs often prosper.
Pray for those living in extreme poverty. Nearly 1/2 of the world lives on less than US$2 per day. Pray their needs be met this year.
Pray for those enslaved in by human traffickers. 30 Million people live in modern day slavery. Over 300,000 people are trafficked annually, generating over $32 Billion. 80% of those trafficked are women, of which 70% are sexually exploited.
Pray for those involved in drug trafficking. Sales from drugs often fund wars between drug cartels and governments (ex. Mexico). Pray for peace in the countries effected and for deliverance of those addicted.
Pray for those involved in missionary work around the globe. We praise God that there is no country in the world without a Christian witness! Pray for effective strategies to reach the those without the Gospel. Pray for the safety and health of those on the missions field.

One of several suspects accused of assaulting an employee at the Betty Ford Center where she is undergoing chemical dependency treatment; pray for revelation of truth in this case
Pray that Lohan will take responsibility for whatever (if any) part she has played in this situation

Yemen

99.92% of population is Muslim; pray for God to call people from other nations with creative, effective plans to bring the gospel to this unreached nation

Entertainment Industry Actor Shelley Malil

Malil, who has had small roles in many movies and TV shows over the last 10 years has been sentenced to life in prison for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend; pray for his salvation and full repentance during his prison time
Pray for Kendra Beebe, his ex-girlfriend, thanking God for her survival, praying for complete healing as she suffers many physical and emotional wounds from this experience

Venezuela

Praise God for continual growth in numbers and influence of the nation’s evangelical community
Pray for economic growth as it is currently dependent primarily on oil; unemployment and poverty are prevalent

An unidentified man committed suicide on Saturday at George Izay Park last Saturday (December 4). Burbank police received reports of shots fired near the picnic tables at the park, but police have not yet to identify the victim.

Pray for closure to the police investigation
Pray for comfort and healing for family and friends of the victim
Pray for the children who were at the park, and may have witnessed the incident

Entertainment Industry: Wesley Snipes

Today, December 10, actor Wesley Snipes begins a three-year sentence in federal prison for tax evasion.

Pray that through this experience, Wesley recognizes God’s kindness that will lead him into true repentance (Romans 2:4)
Pray for Wesley’s family and others who may have been hurt by his choices

Guatemala

Spiritual revival began in Guatemala in the 1970s, reaching a point where 24% of population was professing Christ, but this number has declined in recent years. Guatemala is one of the poorest nations of Latin America.

Pray for restoration of what God began a few decades ago.
60% of the population is Catholic in name only; most combine Catholicism with Mayan religious traditions. Pray for truth to be embraced by the Guatemalan Catholic church.
There is much animosity between the different people groups of Guatemala. Corruption and mistreatment of people with less power is commonplace. Pray for justice and reconciliation between all people groups.
Guatemala has approximately 60 people groups who have yet to hear the Gospel. Pray for God to call people who know the Guatemalan and Mayan cultures and languages to bring them the gospel.
Pray for economic increase and wisdom of leaders to use all funding appropriately to benefit the entire nation

Pray for relationships that are strained due to the trauma of war, that God will show himself reconciling & healing broken and challenged relationships
Pray for protection of those currently serving & the comfort of their families

Entertainment Industry Butch Patrick (Former child star who played Eddie Munster)

Entering treatment dealing with nearly life-long drug addiction; pray for God's revelation of himself to Butch

Bryan Mache (father of family on the WE show Raising Sextuplets) released this week after pleading guilty for domestic abuse; he & his wife have been separated 2 months (shortly after show ended)
Pray for the family's protection, healing, and salvation

Sri Lankai

84% of nation completely unreached with gospel message; pray for workers in the harvest to change this
Pray for recovery from lasting effects of national devastation from 2004 tsunami & 25-year war that ended in 2009
Pray for peace & complete resolution between Tamils & Sinhalese (the two people groups involved in the civil war); though the war ended, there is still much unrest between the two groups
Pray for a government that will stand for civil rights (including religious freedom which does not currently exist) and justice, praying against the corruption that currently exists

Has called himself an "anti-theist" & has written a book called God Is Not Great, yet in a July article he stated that various prayer groups are part of the reason he’s still alive; pray for God to continue revealing himself to Hitchens

Praise God for growth in the Church as there were only 3 known believers in Tajikistan in 1992 but several hundreds by 2000
90 % of population is Muslim, but most are non-practicing; pray that this lead to an openness to Christ
Religious freedom has been available for 13 years; pray for calling & anointing of missionaries to use this freedom to the fullest that spiritual awakening may come
Uzbeks: people group of Tajikistan that was defeated in civil war in the 90s, now marginalized in society & almost completely un-reached with the gospel; pray for spiritual awakening and political/economic freedom
Pray for continued growth of media ministry which has been the most effective way of reaching Tajikistan

Government & construction jobs are most common lost; pray for stability in current positions of these 2 areas as well as the creation of new jobs in both
Pray for health & education fields that have recently started to increase lay-offs, though previously viewed as dependable fields

Entertainment Industry Lindsay Lohan

Ordered to rehab again; pray for her salvation & deliverance from addiction
Pray against the self-deception & manipulation that are normal with addiction & intensified with celebrity status

Suriname

Political & economic instability following corruption & dictatorship from 1975 (the country’s beginning) to 1994
50% professes Christ though most are nominal, mixing Christian beliefs with Spiritism
March for Jesus: inter-denominational ministry with an annual event that has many immediate results in Suriname but has not yet been successful at making lasting disciples; pray for anointing and growth for this ministry
Pray for the formation of spiritual leaders through the 3 small Bible colleges (2 Pentecostal, 1 Baptist)
Unreached minority groups (immigrants from Indonesia, India, China, & Laos, as well as six people groups that developed from descendents of escaped slaves)

In their scheme, over $150 million was stolen from Medicare & many doctors’ identities stolen; pray for restoration of finances to all who have been harmed by this
Pray for protection upon the medical community, that they may do their work without fear of further harm
52 individuals (from L.A. & New York) have been found to be involved with the criminal organization responsible; pray for the FBI as they continue their search, so that justice can be accomplished

Entertainment Industry George Clooney

With strong influence through both his work in the entertainment industry & humanitarian work, pray for God’s direction upon his life as he has such influence on the world
Pray for his salvation (as well as for his family) & that his influence on the world becomes something that influences the world toward Christ

Praise God for his work among the young people of Singapore (15% of the nation is Christian, and nearly all Christians are university students)
Pray for training of Christians so that ministry can flow beyond the universities to the whole nation (many missionaries are sent from Singapore but not many trained Christian leaders stay to work in their own nation)
Strong religious diversity and freedom available as of recent; pray for God’s use of this to create more opportunity for salvation
Monetary wealth is common and seen as a reason for many to be nominal in all spiritual practices (it is believed that many who receive Christ as university students become complacent and often leave the faith after graduation)
Large addiction epidemic; pray for a breaking of this bondage and for Teen Challenge whose ministry has made much breakthrough in Singapore
