Local Need: City of Burbank

  • Pray for God to place the right person to fill the school board position on a permanent basis.

  • There are over 108,000 actors in the Los Angeles area. Of that number, roughly 21,000 are working. Pray for God to meet the financial need of each one.
  • Pray for all Christian actors. Pray that God give them direction, wisdom and favor as they pursue their craft.
  • Pray for all the unbelieving actors. That God would draw them to Jesus and salvation.

Global Focus: North Korea

After World War II, Korea was split in two at Russia’s insistence. Shortly there after, the north became communist and invaded the south. Civil war waged between the two sides from 1950-1953. The north is now under the third generation of oppressive family rule. It is one of the most isolated nations politically, culturally, and religiously in the world.
  • Pray for Kim Jong-Un who assumed control of the nation upon his father’s death in December. He is the world's youngest head of state. May he turn to Jesus as Lord.
  • Over 69% of the population is atheist; only 1.5% is Christian. Pray for open hearts to the Gospel.
  • All aspects of life, including access to the media is controlled by the government. The government keeps the people isolated from any global influence. Pray for political and spiritual freedom to descend on this nation.
  • The Church is in constant danger of imprisonment and execution. Up to 100,000 Christians are currently interned in labor camps. Pray for them, that they persevere in what might be the most difficult country in the world to be a Christian.
  • Food and other resources are hard to come by and government officials and the military often gobble up the resources they do have up. Many go hungry and without, even to the point of death. Pray for the global Church and others to take a great role in meeting these needs in Jesus name.
  • Pray for open doors of ministry in this nation.

  • Pray that the Lord to send us people to work along side us in the ministry of Encounter Assembly.
  • Pray that God draws the people of our city to Jesus. That God use all the churches in Burbank to love the community.

Local Needs: Two men, Robert Banks and Robert Grogan, were arrested Thursday for allegedly binding and robbing three people in their Burbank home.
  • Pray for the three young people victimized, asking God to bring healing from their trauma and for a revelation of God to them during this time.
  • Pray for justice in the trials of Banks and Grogan, that all truth be discovered, and that the Holy Spirit bring conviction to the perpetrators, drawing all people involved to Himself.

Entertainment Industry: Robert Downey Jr. was known in the late 90’s and early 2000’s as much for his drug and alcohol-addicted lifestyle as for his acting. He says he has been drug free since 2003, and his career has improved greatly. In these last ten years, he has become increasingly interested in spirituality. He has a background in both Judaism and Catholicism. He currently considers his religion to be part Jewish, part Buddhist, though he has a strong interest in Christianity and other world religions.
  • Thank God for the work He has done in setting him free from addiction and helping him live a productive life. Pray that he come to accept Jesus as the source of this blessing and freedom and to desire personal relationship with Him to meet ever spiritual need.
  • Pray for continued freedom everywhere needed to maintain his sobriety and live a healthy life.
  • Pray for his relationship with his wife Susan Levin and his 18-year-old son Indio (from his first marriage).

Republic of Georgia: This former Soviet state with 4.2 million people has been an independent nation since 1991 yet under dictatorial leadership until 2004. The political stability has yielded a great interest in religion, and a growing openness to the Gospel has resulted. Russia continues to exert attempts at control over Georgia and threatens their independence. There are many human rights abuses occurring in Georgia as interethnic intolerance has led to many marginalized groups being unemployed and homeless. Similarly, there is much division in the church of Georgia with much dissention between denominations.
  • Thank God for the growing openness to the Gospel, praying that a harvest come quickly where many receive forgiveness of sin and begin vibrant relationship with Jesus.
  • Pray for strong, stable leaders to hear the call of God and find their role within the harvest, partnering with Him in bringing about a healthy, unified Christian community in Georgia that can be a light in the midst of all the country’s spiritual darkness.
  • Pray for Georgia’s government officials as well as humanitarian workers and missionaries working in Georgia to establish justice and human rights in the land.
  • Pray for peace between Georgia and Russia, bringing about security to both nations.

Encounter Assembly
  • Pray for continued growth encountering God together.
  • Pray for our first Sunday morning service, that God will grant favor meeting every need with the transition and bringing many people to encounter Him, finding either faith or growth in relationship with Him through His work in Encounter.
  • Pray for continuous anointing and blessing for Encounter’s leaders.
